Chemistry Students Receive National Awards

Two chemistry students at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology have received recognition from the American Chemical Society (ACS), the world's largest scientific society.

David Bowles, a senior from Gillette, Wyoming, is the recipient of the 2009 Undergraduate Award in Analytical Chemistry, awarded by the ACS Division of Analytical Chemistry and the journal Analytical Chemistry. The award recognizes outstanding efforts in the field of study.

Katrina Donovan, a senior from Martin, is the recipient of the 2009 Undergraduate Award in Inorganic Chemistry, awarded by the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry. This is the first year the honor has been awarded. It recognizes achievement by undergraduate students in inorganic chemistry and encourages further study in the field.
