Travis Schmidt, a metallurgical engineering major from Sioux Falls, and Sara Hagie, a mechanical engineering major from Spearfish, were elected Homecoming King and Queen during the M-Week ceremony held Thursday night at the School of Mines.

Schmidt has been involved with Delta Sigma Phi, intramurals, Orientation Leaders, M-Week and Peer Advisors

Hagie has been involved with Alpha Omega Epsilon, Student Ambassadors, Peer Advisors, Tech Activities and Programs, Phi Eta Sigma, Tau Beta Pi and the Aero Design Team.

The royalty, selected by students, will preside over the M-Week parade and the Homecoming football game Saturday, Oct. 4.

King candidates:

  • Adam Lungren, mechanical engineering, Gillette, Wyo.
  • Collin Rogers, mining engineering and management, McKinleyville, Calif.
  • Travis Schmidt, metallurgical engineering, Sioux Falls
  • Chadd Steffes, mechanical engineering, Plevna, Mont.

Queen candidates:

  • Valeri Eisenbraun, interdisciplinary sciences, Lakewood, Colo.
  • Sara Hagie, mechanical engineering, Spearfish
  • Ashley Johnson, industrial engineering, Miller
  • Danielle Olinger, geology, Buffalo, Minn.
  • Melanie Satchell, interdisciplinary sciences, Pleasant Dale, Neb.
