School of Mines to Host Oil Industry Career Seminar

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology will host "Careers in Oil Industry," a seminar by Dr. Ibrahim Palaz, director of strategic, educational and research and development partnerships for Halliburton.

The seminar will be held Thursday, September 11 at 4 p.m. in the Mineral Industries Building, Room 222.

Dr. Palaz has been with Halliburton for 10 years. Prior to his current assignment, he worked as country vice president for Halliburton Energy Services in Baku, Azerbaijan, on BP projects. He is an industry veteran with more than 25 years experience..

He has double B.S. degrees in geology and geophysical engineering from the University of Istanbul, a M.S. degree in geophysics form Colorado School of Mines, and a Ph.D. in geological engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. He has published 12 articles and edited two books.

The event is free and open to the public.
