School of Mines Professor Receives Educator Award -- Released March 14, 2008

Dr. Andrea Surovek, an assistant professor in the civil and environmental engineering department at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, has been awarded the 2008 Ferdinand P. Beer and E. Russell Johnston, Jr. Outstanding New Mechanics Educator Award, on behalf of the Mechanics Division of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).

Established in 1992, this award is given annually to up to three individuals who have shown a strong commitment to mechanics education.

The winners are selected on the basis of their exceptional contributions to mechanics education. Individuals who have no more than five years of academic experience past their first regular academic appointment are eligible.
