The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology's Baja SAE team recently took part in the Winter Baja Competition sponsored by SAE and Michigan Tech, taking third and fourth places against 25 competitors. Mini Baja simulates real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Engineering students are tasked to design and build an off-road vehicle that will survive the severe punishment of rough terrain. The object of the competition is to provide students with a challenging project that involves the planning and manufacturing tasks found when introducing a new product to the consumer industrial market.
Full competition results can be found at http://www.baja.mtu.edu/winter_baja_files/Winter%20Results%2008.pdf.
