South Dakota School of Mines and Technology students will be learning the art of working the room at the Art of Mixing and Mingling Reception scheduled from 4-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Mar. 4 in the Surbeck Center Bump Lounge. During the reception, Dianna Fuchs of the Rapid City Chamber of Commerce will provide students with tips and practice in how to mix and mingle at business and professional settings.
During the program, the School of Mines catering staff will give students pointers about how to make a good impression in a social setting. Staff will serve the students hors d'oeuvres and "mocktails". Students will dress in interview or business casual attire.
"Our students have many opportunities to attend professional conferences and national competitions," Darrell Sawyer, director of Career Planning, Placement and Cooperative Education at the School of Mines, said. "Our goal is to help our students feel comfortable taking advantage of networking opportunities to meet business leaders at these events and as they start their careers in industry."
