Be coached by one of the best in the nation! Dr. Jack Daniels, head distance coach at the Center for High Altitude Training, will coach cross-country, road, and track distance runners. The School of Mines has scheduled the Distance Running Camp for June 9-12, 2009, and all activities will be held on campus.
Daniels is a renowned exercise physiologist, Olympic coach and Olympic games silver medalist. He has coached 31 individual NCAA champions, eight national NCAA team champions, 131 All Americans and was named "World's Best Coach" by Runner's World Magazine. He is also the author of Daniels' Running Formula, the ultimate training guide for the distance runner.
There will be sessions for middle school students, high school students, college students, coaches and adult runners. Camp highlights will include: sport science lectures by Daniels, track/interval workouts coached by Daniels, Continuing Education Credits (CECs) for coaches, strength training for runners, yoga/stretching classes, sport nutrition and running at altitude (Harney Peak).
