More than 200 middle-school girls will participate in the Sixth Annual Girls Day at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, April 16.
This is a special, school-day campus event designed to introduce young women in middle school to careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Girls will participate in hands-on activities as well as hear inspiring and encouraging messages about pursuing careers in STEM areas.
School of Mines faculty and student volunteers will help participants build marshmallow bridges, learn about decorative blacksmithing and perpetual calendars, experience cryogenic chemistry and more.
