Local Meteorologists Host Severe Weather Workshop -- Released April 3, 2009

The 13th Annual Northern Plains Weather Workshop will be held in Rapid City April 7-8, 2009, on the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology campus. The event is sponsored by the Rapid City National Weather Service, the School of Mines' Institute of Atmospheric Sciences and the Black Hills Chapter of the American Meteorological Society.

The focus of this workshop is on evolving technology and services. Guest speakers include Paul Schlatter of the National Weather Service's Warning Decision Training Branch; Dr. Yvette Richardson, assistant professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University; Rusty Billingsley of the National Weather Service's Southern Region; Tom Warner of ZT Research, Rapid City; and Dennis Todey, South Dakota state climatologist.
