The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is recruiting volunteer judges for the 54th annual High Plains Regional Science and Engineering Fair scheduled for Friday, March 20, at the School of Mines.
Judges don't need to be scientists, but should have an interest in science and formal education beyond high school. Call (605) 394-2291 to volunteer. The time commitment would be from 8:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. Breakfast and lunch for the judges will be provided
More than 300 area sixth- through 12th-graders compete in the fair. Students will compete in biological sciences, physical sciences, social sciences or team project divisions.
Categories are:
Sixth grade: physical science, biological science, social science and team projects
Seventh grade: physical science, biological science, social science and team projects
Eighth grade: physical science, biological science, social science and team projects
High School: physical science, biological science, social science and team projects
