Dear Friends,
With Thanksgiving break behind us, the campus is focused on finishing the semester and the holiday season. Over the next few weeks, several of our performing arts groups will provide seasonal events open to all, including:
Fall Drama Club Production
The first performance of the Drama Club's fall production, "Terror by Gaslight", was held last night. There are two more performances--tonight and tomorrow night at 7:00 pm in the Surbeck Center Ball room. The cost is $5 per person and free to faculty, staff and students. Drama Director Bob Faubert promises a great time to all who attend!
Fall Band Concert
The SDSM&T Symphonic and Jazz Bands will perform on Tuesday, December 4th at 7:30 pm in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. All are invited to attend and enjoy the music performed by this talented group of musicians under the direction of Dr. James Feiszli.
Christmas Concert
The Concert Choir and Master Chorale, also under the direction of Dr. Feiszli, will be performing their annual Christmas Concert at 8:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, December 8th and 9th at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cathedral in Rapid City. If you have not yet been to one of these concerts, I encourage you to attend. Every year, this event is outstanding and a wonderful addition to the holiday season.
Traditional campus holiday events include:
Parade of Trees
The Student Activities and Leadership Center is coordinating the "Parade of Trees" in the Surbeck Center Ballroom. The public is invited to come and view Christmas trees decorated by various student groups and departments on campus on Wednesday, December 5th between 9 am and 5 pm. We appreciate their hard work and efforts in putting together this fabulous event that is enjoyed by so many.
Children's Holiday Party and President's Dinner
The Annual Children's Holiday Party for children of students, faculty and staff will be held in the Surbeck Center on Thursday, December 6th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Today is the last day to sign up children, age 12 and under, who would like to attend. Contact satomi.hayashi@sdsmt.edu.
The President's Holiday Dinner for faculty, staff, students and their families will also be held on Thursday, December 6th, from 4:30-6:30 pm in the Hardrock Dining Hall in Surbeck. Tickets are $4 per person (ages 5 and younger are free) and can be purchased at the Cashier's Office or the President's Office through Noon the day of the event.
For those of you in the Rapid City area, a warm welcome awaits you at any of these holiday events.
