School of Mines Recognizes Snowfall Contest Winners -- Released December 11, 2007

Enough snow has fallen for the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology to recognize the winners of the annual "First Snow of the Season" contest.

The winner in the under 18 age category was Jordan Seda of Pine Ridge and the winner in the over 18 category was Virginia Harmon of Piedmont. Each will receive a $25 Rushmore Mall gift card.

The National Weather Service recorded the first inch of snow on Dec. 6 at 1:45 p.m. Seda's entry was Dec. 5 at 11:03 p.m.; Harmon's entry was Dec. 5 at 4:15 a.m.

There were 281 total entries -- 170 in the "under 18" bracket and 111 in the "over 18" group.
