School of Mines to Host Information Night in Sioux Falls -- Released December 10, 2007

The South Dakota School of Mines and Technology will host a Mines Information Night Tuesday, Jan. 15, at the Downtown Holiday Inn. The session, which is for students, families, teachers and counselors, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The School of Mines, an engineering and science university in Rapid City, invites anyone interested in the university to attend and learn about the School of Mines and its majors and programs. Members of the university administration and admissions can answer questions about financial aid, application procedures and any other topics prospective students and their families want to discuss.

"The School of Mines has been preparing leaders in engineering and science for more than a century," Admissions Director Charles "Tex" Claymore said. "This event will help students understand how the School of Mines can help them achieve their goals."

The School of Mines offers 16 bachelor's degrees, 11 master's degrees, and six doctoral programs. The School of Mines has been named on of America's Best Buys for ten consecutive years, with total annual costs for tuition, fees, room, board and book totaling approximately $12,200 for South Dakota residents and $13,440 for non-residents. School of Mines 2007-2008 graduates were offered average starting salaries of approximately $54,000 and had placement rates that average 95 percent.
