Casey Wins School of Mines Award -- Released December 10, 2007

Article Body
The Career Service Council at the School of Mines has given its Traditions of Excellence Award for December 2007 to Patricia Casey. Casey is a secretary in the Surbeck Center, and has been employed at the School of Mines since 2005.

The Career Service Council gives the award to someone who has performed their assigned duties at a high level or above and beyond expectations, who has taken the initiative to promote the concept of successful job completion and has promoted a positive working relationship with students, faculty and staff.

Casey's nomination stated, "As one of the most visible employees on campus, Pat Casey is definitely the right person for the Surbeck main desk. She always greets students, visitors to campus and fellow employees with a smile and hello like she has nothing else to do. However, that is not the case. Pat is responsible for scheduling meetings, making sure the academic courses are scheduled correctly, answering the phone, signing out literally hundreds of packages for dorm students and much, much more - not to mention maintaining more than two dozen of the campus" best cared for plants! Pat's commitment to excellence shows in her willingness to go above and beyond in every part of her job. Pat is definitely the perfect person to have as the 'face' of the School of Mines."
