Darrell Sawyer, director of the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Career Center, was elected president of the South Dakota Career Planning and Placement Association (SDCPPA) at its recent annual meeting in Chamberlain. Sawyer will serve a two-year term from 2007-2009. SDCPPA's mission is to advance the career development and employment of students attending South Dakota's post-secondary educational institutions.
SDCPPA is the sponsoring organization of these annual events: BIG (Business-Industry-Government) Job Fair; Black Hills Regional Job Fair, Rapid City; and South Dakota Teachers Job Fair, Sioux Falls.
Sawyer joined the School of Mines staff in the spring of 1997 and has served as director of the School of Mines Career Center for the past eight years.
He is a native of Howard, South Dakota.
